Warnings about the negative health effects of sitting all day are easy to find. Explanations of what to do about it are harder to come by.
National Public Radio asked James Levine, director of Obesity Solutions at the Mayo Clinic and Arizona State University, what desk workers can do to combat the negative effects of sitting. He said those in sedentary positions don’t necessarily need to run out and buy the newest standing desk, treadmill desk or other gadget, or even sign up for a gym membership. Instead they should make a plan to work movement into their days. Even small amounts help.
